Meet Emil Terbio — your physio in Canberra.
AHPRA-registered physiotherapist with a focus on osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthropathies, and balance-related conditions. Mobile, in-clinic, and telehealth care across the ACT.
I started FiloPhys because I believe physiotherapy should feel different.
Most people who come to me have been let down by something. A short, rushed appointment that didn't get to the root of the problem. A diagnosis that felt vague. A treatment plan that didn't suit their actual life. I wanted to build a practice that worked the way I'd want my own care to work — unhurried, thorough, and grounded in current evidence.
My approach is shaped by a few simple convictions. The first is that safety and comfort matter — physically and emotionally — at every stage of care. Patients should feel heard before they feel pressured into a treatment plan. The second is that good physiotherapy is more about education and self-management than it is about hands-on technique alone. My job is to help you understand what's happening in your body, give you the tools to manage it, and progressively work towards your goals.
I don't want to be the physio you see forever. I want to be the physio who helps you get back to not needing one.
I have a particular clinical interest in osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthropathies, and balance-related conditions — including neurological and vestibular presentations. These are areas where the evidence has shifted significantly in recent years, and where the right physiotherapy approach can dramatically change long-term outcomes. As a certified GLA:D® clinician, I'm able to deliver structured, evidence-based programs that have strong research backing for improving pain, function, and quality of life.
Whether we meet in your home, at one of my Canberra clinic locations, or over a telehealth consult, the standard of care doesn't change. What changes is how we make it fit your life — because that's the part most physios get wrong.
Education, certification, and ongoing learning
Physiotherapy is a profession that demands continual study. Below is a snapshot of Emil's formal education, professional certifications, and the organisations he's a registered member of — all current as of 2025.
Emil regularly attends conferences, workshops, and CPD sessions on emerging research in chronic pain, vestibular rehabilitation, and inflammatory conditions — well beyond AHPRA's minimum CPD requirements.
A clinical process that actually fits you
From the first conversation through to discharge, every consult follows a deliberate process — designed to make sure you understand your condition, feel safe in your treatment, and leave each session with a clear plan.
Understand your story

Beyond Rehab Physiotherapy
A trusted Canberra physiotherapy clinic offering rehabilitation-focused care in a professional clinic environment.
Outside of physio, life looks like this.
The best clinicians are the ones who understand the lives their patients are trying to get back to. Emil's approach to physiotherapy is shaped just as much by his life outside the clinic as inside it.
He's an active member of Canberra's local fitness community, with a personal interest in strength training, mobility, and how movement supports long-term health. Outside of clinical work, you'll find him exploring Canberra's nature reserves, spending time with family, or deep in the latest research on chronic pain and rehabilitation.
It's this lived experience — and continued practice of what he prescribes — that makes Emil's care feel grounded and genuine.
